  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 small pumpkin for serving
